I really have spring fever! It's a pretty day again here. Temps in the 60's.I've been trying to get the house clean and I'm in the mood for change! Last spring I painted my front staircase. I painted the dark wood a distressed white.I loved how it turned out.It was the best thing I could have done! With three kids the distressed look is perfect! The more scratches and bings the better! It was simple to do too! I just liquid sanded the steps.NO priming. I painted them a white color and then sanded them down. Believe it or not you can never see the dust! Anyways thought I would share with you my steps! I have distressed barn wood frames going up my wall on the staircase and it goes well.So anyways I'm thinking of painting my kitchen chairs an olive green color. The swatch is on the chair. I think that's my next project!I'll let you know how they come out!

OOoh - what a great idea for your stairs. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHey, love your steps! Pale yellow is always nice in any room of a house, brightens things up without over-bearing! And I know about what kids can do to your steps and furniture! Stores should sell "the battered look", so that families could buy it and not worry AFTER purchase how it will look in one year! Enjoy that nice weather and blow some over my way. I could use it! ReplyDeleteI'm surprised you need to distress the stairs with three kids. Don't they wear things out fast enough...The kitchen looks great too.
ReplyDeleteIt has been beautiful here too - We have been rearranging furniture and venturing out to the porch for a sit. Love what you did with the stairs and love your dining set - am currently looking for a small set for my breakfast area. Have a great day! Cindy

ReplyDeleteOkay, I LOVE your stairs!!!!! And I think your chairs would look good olive.... my two cents. :)
Tracy,
ReplyDeleteYou are killing me! The stairs look great. I've been working on mine for two years. I've finished six steps...seven to go. Using oil base black for treads. Painting under the lip is the hard part and the black is seeping on the white. Please come and do it for me...just kidding. Is should be done by July!
Love your stairs ! I may have to try that on mine , Iam not crazy about the stain color on mine ...I have also tagged you , hope you dont mind ! Check out my latest blog post !
