Dog Days of Summer

The Dog Days of Summer are here! It's already June 1st. It seems as if the months go by faster and faster the older we get. Although during the Summer months there are some of those lazy days that seem to linger. Take my pooch Stanley for example...not a care in the world. He just waits for someone to play frisbee and eats and takes lots of naps. Actually for him that's all four seasons. Ha! Well I took this photo of him today and thought it truly was a "Dog Days of Summer" kind of day! Even though "Dog Days" are typically the hottest days of Summer in July and August. We have not experienced them yet and we will! Enjoy your weekend!

Brussel sprouts anyone???

Yes.... I must admit these little veggies were not my all time favorite growing up. They were usually frozen and boiled. Ugh! Well recently I got on this kick ..roast everything in the oven thing! It is so simple to do and makes veggies taste so yummy! I  bought my brussel sprouts, rinsed them, peeled the outer leaves and cut in half. Then place them on the pan, drizzle olive oil and salt and pepper. Coat them all and bake at 375 degrees for about a half hour. Voila! This can be done with asparagus, zucchini and so on! I'm sure
most already know this but it needs to be reminded how delightful it makes vegtables taste!

Where have I been?

I was window shopping yesterday and came across these. LE Cadeaux Melamine Dinnerware!
I thought they were so pretty and oh so country French. At first I thought they were ceramic or porcelain
and then I realized they were a hard plastic ( Melamine}. I guess they are everywhere! Target,Walmart and Pottery Barn but it was this design that caught my eye! You can find these on line and many more French country designs at ..

The Gift....

The Gift

What Easter Is
Sweet chocolate rabbits
Pretty spring flowers
Baskets full of candy.
A promise of the future
A gift to receive
A beautiful, perfect plan.
Winter now is over
Easter at last is here
Life has been renewed.

Blooms for the hair.....

I've been busy creating all sorts of vintage floral hair combs and headbands that are sure to make a statement! Summer blooms that will never fade!  The bees are buzzing and I actually got a mosquito
bite yesterday...not too happy about those, but nothing beats the beauty of the flowers though!

Fluffing up the Spring wreath

I actually did a little Spring cleaning in the yard the other day and spruced up the house for Spring. I even mowed the lawn...imagine that with the pollen count in extreme record highs!  The mowing is usually my son's job but I thought I would give him a break. Anyways... I put up my Spring wreath and added a few vintage Easter picks in it.  Here it is on my front door. It feels like Spring has sprung in Atlanta. Wishing you all a happy day!

Strike a pose....

Doesn't it look like the flower is posing for the picture? I just love the way this photo turned out. My daughter took the dog for a walk and came back with three of these beauties. Shhhh....don't tell the neighbors. {They didn't come from my yard.} Ha! Anyways, I just wanted to share a captured floral moment. Remember to take time to smell the flowers today!
Enjoy,

Grape Hyacinth

I just love these flowers. I planted lots of bulbs of these a few years ago and they come up every Spring!
Let me tell you I have a brown thumb so these must be hardy! They are so cute and are bright blue. They come from the Lily family. I love to cut a bunch and make a small bouquet in a vase. It's one of the 1st flowers to pop up in my yard. If you like the look of these, plant the bulbs in the Fall. They will not disappoint!

Happy Leap Day!

Today is a special day. Leap Day!

A Swedish pocket calendar from the year 2008 showing February 29
February 29 is a date that usually occurs every four years, and is called leap day. This day is added to the calendar in leap years as a corrective measure, because the earth does not orbit around the sun in precisely 365 days.

Enjoy your day and leap on forward!

Oh Stanley....

The many faces of Stanley our English Springer Spaniel.
He sits on my favorite yellow couch and peers out the window.
So comfy and cozy as he poses for the camera.
Nothing can break his stare as he gazes out the window.

His sweet carmel colored hairs above his eye give him a distinct charming look.
This is our pooch. We love him dearly. He will be 2 years old in April. He's full of personality and character that's for sure. Our Springer Spaniel Stanley!
Have a great day!

Blowing Bubbles....

Sat on my back step blowing bubbles
Each shining soapy bubble is perfect
I'm filling them all with my love
And sending them to the heavens above
All of them are for you with all of my love

Made with love....

It's that time! It's so easy to do and really doesn't take that much time. Make your own special Valentines! They are so sweet and made with love! These Valentines I made with cut out card stock circles. I dipped them in left over coffee from the morning pot and baked them  for a few minutes at 350 degrees. I then cut out random circles of Valentine style papers{It can be pink and red with whatever images that could be romantic}. I folded the edges in a bit and glued a small dot on the back of the cicles and put them together. I used a pink seam binding for the ribbon but any style ribbon or string will do. These are darling and voila!  I hoped I inspired you to get out your papers and make your own! It's not too late!
Enjoy!

Pink-Nurturing Kindness

Ahhhh.. the color pink. My favorite. Pink symbolizes love, beauty, kindness and compasion. It heals grief and sadness, soothes difficulties in both romantic and family relationships. It gives selfworth, love and acceptance. It means I care. Not just for Valentine's Day but for everyday. So spread the pink and make yourself feel good. I purchased these pink hydrangas yesterday. They are so pretty. I placed them in my front foyer for everyone to see.{well anyone who walks in my foyer}.They make me feel good every time I walk by them!
