Dilled Green Beans

As I turned the Calendar page of my Herb Garden Calendar yesterday I see this tastey and even easy recipe for me to try and I thought I would share it! I love the artwork in this calandar! Sherri Buck Baldwin is the artist. This recipe is for Dilled Green Beans.

2 Quarts plus 2 cups water

2 pounds fresh green beans, washed and trimmed

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons mustard seed

2 teaspoons dill weed

1 teaspoon red paper flakes

1 teaspoon dill seed

4 gloves garlic minced

2 cups distilled white vinegar

2/3 cup sugar

2 cups water

Bring 2 quarts water to boil;add green beans and boil until beans are tender, about 5 minutes. Place beans in cold water and drain. In a large bowl, mix together salt, mustard seed, dill weed, red pepper flakes and garlic. Add beans and stir well.Bring 2 cups water, vinegar, sugar and salt. Add to beans and mix well. Pour beans into an airtight container and refrigerate overnight before serving. For optimum flavor, chill beans one week before eating.

So I'm going to try this and if this sounds good to you....Enjoy! Happy Friday!
